Peace and Welcome- You may already know that healing takes time, it takes love, it takes patience and it takes the support of family, friends and the entire community. Having a strong foundation is necessary for us to grow and flourish.
Our journey towards self-discovery can be a long and challenging one, this type of expedition demands “truth”, “courage” and “authenticity”. These values are buried within us, it is the healing journey which will allow us to discover and nurture these qualities.
I started my true healing journey about a year after my son was murdered at the youthful age of 18 years old; he was shot and killed in 2008 by another youth. As you would imagine, it is one of the most traumatic experience any Mother could face. Many of us have similar stories, we all may have been victimized in one way or another and we tend to carry our pain around because we are afraid to put it down, afraid to nurture it, so instead we tend to abuse ourselves and others.
When we are ready to own and take responsibility for our fear, hurt, forgiveness, anger, resentment and grief not only we will be able to confront these negative feelings but overcome them in spite of the trauma and pain in our paths. Through self-love and self-discovery we can reclaim our sacred selves. Together we can inspire, support and educate ourselves and those in the community who are ready to begin a healing journey by taking our negative situations whatever they are and turn them into positive solutions in hopes of nurturing ourselves and our community.
Let the healing begin…
